Hi, my name is Daniel Otero and I have been an Oral English High School Teacher for about a year at The Silver Beach International School.
My main focus for teaching other than oral English is writing, because it’s an outlet of expression for most and I love it. People expose their emotions when they write and are passionate about what they know or understand. Therefore, I believe strongly in teaching my students the simplest way to express themselves in English; whether it’s through the oral or written path. I’m originally from New York City, but my parents were immigrants from Spain and my father used to say about expressing myself in English, “Daniel, rice and beans...” What he meant was to make things simple, to break it down so people could understand. I have accepted this principle as part of my life and this is what I teach my students. My duties are for me to teach my students the best and easiest possible way of learning English; therefore, I break my courses down into three groups: culture, oral and sometimes written expression. Trying to give my best and teaching something which can be useful and interesting. Sometimes I ask my students to volunteer and write an article, in which I push for publication; since I’m a former journalist.
In this case, I’m proud to present to you, Ms. Chen Yiying (Rosalind). One of my best and brightest from G-101.She focuses on her beautiful hometown of Chaozhou, Guangdong. Proudly expressing what it means to her and how in love she is of the foods and history from her place of birth. With pride, I present to you Ms. Rosalind Chen and her work, ‘My love for Chaozhou’.
